What does your roofing inspection include:
During your roofing inspection we look over and for the following things:
- The overall appearance of the roof including exterior and interior to identify any surface deterioration or physical damage
- Evidence of ceiling cracks and leaks
- Conditions of fascia, gutters and drains, skylights, chimneys and vents
- Any curled, broken or missing shingles
- Areas where water may collect especially during heavy rainfall or snowstorms
- Damaged or missing flashing points
When do you need your roof inspected?
- If you are selling your home or commercial building
- If you are buying a home or commercial building
- Following a severe storm to identify storm damage
- If you notice water pooling on your roof
- Before the season with the most severe weather
Everyday exposure to sun plus seasonal rain, high wind gusts, hail, and snow slowly (or in some cases quickly) wear down your roof. Identifying minor damage and quickly repairing it can save you thousands in the long run as minor damage eventually leads to major damage that results in costly repair bills.
Call us today to schedule your roof inspection.
We’ll answer any questions you have as well as provide you with inspection costs and a checklist of our inspection process.
What is a roof inspection?
A roof inspection is a thorough examination of a residential or commercial roof to determine the health and integrity of a roof. During the inspection, a professional inspector will look at interior and exterior surfaces, gutters, chimney and flashing points for signs of damage. Following the inspection, we will make the necessary recommendations to repair your roof.
How long does a roof inspection take?
A roof inspection can take from 45 minutes to several hours.
Can’t I inspect my own roof?
While you can certainly climb up on your roof and inspect it, we do not recommend it. First, it can be dangerous. And second, since you are not properly trained to identify subtle roofing damage, you may miss minor damage and problem areas. Many homeowners and commercial building owners are able to identify roof leaks and serious damage but miss the less noticeable issues. As a result, minor issues that could have been affordably repaired become costly roof repairs or even entire roof replacements.
How often are roof inspections recommended?
Getting a roof inspection 1-2 times a year is recommended to ensure the health and integrity of your roof. While this may seem like a lot, it’s really not if you want to keep your roof in good condition and keep repair costs minimal. Routine inspections can significantly extend the life of your roof so think of it as an investment in your roof and home. You may also want to have your roof inspected before or after a major storm or upon the sight of some troubling signs such as leaks or moisture problems.
What should you look for in a roof inspector?
Make sure to check for license, insurance and certification plus a reputation for integrity. All of which we can provide at Homestead Roofing Company.
What happens if you identify damage or something wrong during the inspection?
While we certainly don’t want this to happen, if we identify any damage or potential issues during the inspection we will notify you of the damage or issues and provide you with options on the best course of action to repair the damage and address any problem areas.

I chose Homestead Roofing Company to put a new shingled roof on my house in September. Martin and his crew did a FABULOUS job! Martin, the foreman, is so knowledgeable, and he makes sure everything is done right. Gene, the sales representative, … More did an excellent job explaining the work that would be done, the pricing, the guarantees, and the timing of the job.
I'd had Homestead do my flat roof 2 years ago, so after getting 3 estimates for my shingled roof, I decided to go with them again.
The work was excellent, the workmen were professional and polite, and they cleaned up afterward very well! I didn't find any nails in my driveway or in my lawn!
I always got a prompt response on the phone when I called their office. The woman who answered the phone was polite and knowledgeable.
I highly recommend Homestead Roofing Company. -

Gene visited our home to inspect the work we needed completed to resolve a sky light leak. He was very informative, knowledgable and informed us it did not appear the repair was too severe. At no time did he make us feel pressured to … More choose Homestead. He assured us the remaining area of the roof looked in good shape thus avoiding an added expense.
The day of the repair, the two repair men were extremely professional. I asked them to clean away some extra silicone left on the glass and it was done with no hesitation.
Very glad we choose Homestead. -

I live in the Eastside Historic District of Paterson. My house has a 100 year old slate roof with peaks and valleys and had several leaks. Homestead came twice to inspect the roof before quoting. All work was done as outlined in the quote … More and the area was left spotless. After 2 days of steady rain, not one issue has appeared. Now I can repair the ceilings and enjoy my house without buckets to catch the rain finding its way through missing slates. -

Gene was responsive and provided a quote the next day for the repair work for a tree damaged eve. They were flexible with a revised work date after the power company missed their original window to secure the power line. When the date came, … More Gene arrived with the work crew to provide instructions. Work crew was efficient and courteous. Work was completed in an efficient manner and the crew did a good job of cleaning up. Would definitely use them again. -

I recently had my roof repaired and I am absolutely thrilled with the outstanding service and results. From the moment I contacted Homestead, their professionalism and expertise were evident. I called and that day, Richie promptly came … More over, assessed the damage and provided me with a detailed explanation of the necessary repairs. He's been doing this for so long he zeroed in on exactly what the issue was. The crew arrived two days later on time, rang my doorbell to introduce themselves, worked diligently, cleaned up everything and completed the project within the estimated timeframe. The quality of their workmanship is exceptional, and my roof now looks as good as new. I am grateful for their attention to detail, excellent communication, and commitment to customer satisfaction. I highly recommend Homestead for anyone in need of roof repairs. -

I called Homestead to fix a leak in my roof and I couldn’t be happier with their service! I have an old house and it was difficult to determine exactly where the leak was stemming from. After the initial work was performed, my roof still … More leaked. Homestead showed up within hours of me calling to try something else. The work performed after their first attempt was at no additional cost. The owner also waited for several rain storms to pass to make sure the problem was fixed before accepting payment. Overall very professional, responsive and great work! I will definitely use and recommend them for any roofing needs. -

I have now used Homestead twice in 3 years for roof repairs and I cannot say enough about their quality of work. 3 years ago I had a leak above my sliding glass door. I had two roofing companies come and fix two separate areas of the … More roof and both did not work and cost an arm and a leg. I called Homestead for an estimate and what they thought it was and I showed them what was repaired already. They immediately knew the issue and had it fixed within 48 hours. I also just got them to repair some damage from a wind storm that was previously fixed by another company (Homestead was too busy to come asap). The estimate was very reasonable and the work was completed promptly and no more leaking inside my house. I'm not sure about the other negative reviews on google for Homestead but they have gained my trust going forward.
